The Beaver Lake Cree Nation (the “BLCN”) Government and Industry Relations Office (the “GIR”) acts as the primary point of contact for consultation between the BLCN and government and industry carrying out initiatives and proposing projects that trigger the duty to consult.

The GIR works with the Elders, Chief and Council and Membership to understand concerns and determine the process of consultation with the BLCN. The GIR facilitates the collection of BLCN indigenous knowledge and conducts traditional land use studies on impacts to BLCN treaty rights. The GIR works with federal and provincial governments and industry to avoid or minimize potential adverse effects on BLCN treaty rights.
