Key Sections to Include in a Job Ad

Job Title

The job title is the first thing an applicant sees. Keep it accurate and to the point to ensure it shows up in keyword searches and attracts the right applicants.

Company Overview

Include a short section on your company and why you are a good company to work for. This could include your mission statement, vision, and values, or could showcase how your organization promotes career growth. Consider including links to your website or social media channels to make it easier for candidates to learn more.

Position Summary

Provide a short overview of the most important tasks, responsibilities, and expectations of the job. A link to the full job description could be included so the candidate can learn more about the details of the position.

Qualifications and Ideal Candidate

Think about your ideal candidate and outline the most important skills and experience needed to be successful in the position. Make sure to consider whether a qualification is truly required or is an asset and list these separately.

Compensation and Benefits

Providing information on salary and other benefits helps give candidates a compelling reason to apply for your position. In addition to salary or wage information, you could include information about training, flexible work arrangements, vacation, professional development opportunities, or alternate work locations.

How to Apply

Make the application process clear by including what documents the candidate should submit (e.g. resume, cover letter), how to submit them (e.g. by email, in person), and the application deadline. Make sure to include contact information.
